Tournament Results

Congratulations to Shyion Bonner who won 3 games and lost only 1 finishing in 6th place in the 7th grade section. Shyion receive a trophy. He also earned his silver medal which he'll get at the  next tournament.

The sixth grade team finished in 5th place of 6 teams that were there.

In the 3rd grade ssection, Luche Yang went into the last round with 3 wins and only one loss. Luche was awarded a bronze medal for having won 10 games in tournament competition.

No bus for Saturday!

Due to a very low sign-up I have cancelled the bus. The tournament will still go on and anyone is welcome to come, but you'll have to provide your won transportation to Metcalf Jr High in Burnsville. Entry fee is $9. which some of you have already turned in.

Be there at 8:30. Tell the registrar you are from Farnsworth and the school will also pay $9.
If you let me know you are coming (651-451-8412), I will pre-register you and you can come at 9:00.

Take 35E south 16 mi. to Diffley, then turn right and go 2 mi. just past Cedar. School is on the left.

Alert! Chess Tournament News

Only one person has signed up for the chess tournament so far. Only 3 others have verbally expressed interest. Therefore I may cancel the bus. You still can go, you still pay only $9 if you are in Flipside ($18 if not in Flipside)  but you'll have to get there yourself. Call Bill at 651-451-8412 if interested in this tournament

First Tournament Dec 13 Sign up!

On Sat. Dec 13, we are going to participate in a chess tournament at Metcalf Jr. High in Burnsville.
The cost is for you $9 (The school will pay the other 9) You will need lunch or $5 lunch money.
There will be a bus leaving at 8:00 am from the upper campus on Walsh Street. Be on time or early.
The bus will return at 5:00 p.m.
Anyone whose rating has ever reached 400 or higher may come. (Daniel and above.)
For 3rd and 4th grade, 300 qualifies you.
All players must fill out the permission forms available at chess club or from the office. They must be returned by Dec 11. I will pick them up early on Friday and register you.
If you chose not to ride the bus and you provide your own transportation, please let me know you are coming and I will register you ahead of time.

Y) If you are in chess club and your rating is 400+ (see chart below) you are eligible.

S) If you are currently enrolled in any after-school Flipside program, you may also come and you are eligible for the $9 discount and you may ride the bus.

N) If you are not currently enrolled in any after-school activity chess, you may come and participate, but you will have to pay the full $18. You may ride the bus.

If you are in grades 3 or 4, you will pay $9 and you may ride the bus, but note that it is leaving from the other campus on Walsh St.

You will only play other students in the same grade.
If we have three from one grade we have a team and will be eligible for a team award.

Also I have nice sets like the ones at school for $10 (Normally about $30-$40)

Chess Sets For Sale, Update

If you'd like a chess set like the ones we use at club, with a nicer  carrying case with handles and a sleeve for the board, let me know. Cost is $10 which is at least $22 less that you can get one anywhere else! (I got a discount for being a regular purchaser, another discount for ordering bulk, and we all share the shipping costs.)
